Therefore, we announce an opportunity for the position of Contractor Coordinator (Safety) we offer this distinctive opportunity to work in a stimulating and professional environment, where you will be responsible for preventing workplace accidents, injuries, and health risks while ensuring the general well-being of employees and contractors, and compliance with safety legislation and standards. The primary objective of this role is to oversee and coordinate the activities of contractors working on-site to ensure adherence to occupational health and safety regulations and standards. This includes promoting a strong safety culture, managing contractor operations to prevent incidents and injuries, and providing guidance on safety procedures.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for contractors regarding occupational health and safety matters, ensuring their activities align with on-site safety requirements.
- Ensure that contractors comply with all safety policies, procedures, and regulations while performing their duties on-site. This includes conducting regular inspections and audits to verify compliance and immediately addressing any safety violations.
- Collaborate with the Public Safety Engineer to assess risks related to contractor activities, identify potential hazards, and develop and implement control measures to minimize risks to workers and the environment.
- Provide necessary guidance and training to contractors to familiarize them with site-specific safety rules, emergency procedures, and hazard communication. Ensure all contractors possess the required qualifications and certifications to perform their tasks safely.
- Coordinate with contractors during emergencies—such as fires, chemical spills, or medical incidents—to ensure prompt and effective response. Direct emergency procedures and evacuation routes for contractors and oversee evacuation drills as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of contractor activities, safety inspections, training sessions, and incident reports. Prepare periodic reports on contractor safety performance and present findings to management as required.
Skills Description
Educational Qualifications
- Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or an equivalent diploma in Mechanical, Chemical Industries, or Electrical fields.
Professional Certifications and Training:
- Professional certifications (an added advantage but not mandatory), such as: Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST), National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) certifications, and others. • Certification of accreditation from the Ministry of Labor for a Technical Supervisor.
Work Experience:
- 1-3 years of experience in occupational health and safety, particularly in hazardous industries.
Required Knowledge:
- Knowledge of occupational health and safety laws and regulations.
- Ability to analyze risks and implement appropriate preventive measures.
- Communication and training skills to raise awareness among employees and contractors about occupational health and safety.
