Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the execution of engineering projects with respect to mechanical engineering aspects.
  • Site management: assume responsibility for day-to-day site operations, manage the workforce, provide technical advice, and resolve issues that may arise.
  • Participate in preparing and reviewing project schedules and budgets.
  • Manage and direct work teams.
  • Submit periodic reports on project progress to the Project Manager.
  • Design and select suitable mechanical equipment and systems.
  • Handle problems, identify technical solutions, and make engineering decisions.
  • Coordinate with technical and engineering teams and ensure the project complies with engineering standards.
  • Review engineering drawings required for the projects.
  • Supervise execution aspects with contractors and service providers.
  • Participate in preparing Tender Documents and the documents/data required for issuing execution tenders for projects.
  • Participate in evaluating proposals from contractors and bids from a technical perspective.
  • Participate in cost and expense management and in estimating project costs.

 

Skills Description

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline.

Professional Certifications & Training

  • Recognized professional certifications in project management such as Project Management Professional (PMP) and Six Sigma, and any other relevant professional certifications (considered an added advantage).

Work Experience

  • 5–7 years’ experience working in the field of mechanical project engineering.

Required Knowledge

  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and concepts, and of designing and analyzing mechanical systems using engineering tools and software.
  • Knowledge of, and compliance with, local and international mechanical engineering regulations and standards.
  • Strong understanding of thermodynamics and its applications in the design of thermal and cooling systems.
  • Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance methods for equipment and machinery.
  • Understanding of engineering standards related to mechanical systems and environmental legislation.

Skills & Competencies

  • Ability to analyze technical problems and develop innovative solutions.
  • Proficiency in design software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD Mechanical for mechanical system design.
  • Skills in designing and analyzing HVAC systems using software such as HAP or TRACE 700.
  • Ability to design and maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to perform vibration analyses and diagnose faults in mechanical equipment.
  • Skills in designing and analyzing pumping systems and fluid control.
  • Advanced computer and engineering software skills.
  • Advanced level of English.
